President, Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Osahon Enabulele has warned Nigerians to be cautious of uncertified, unregulated text messages from various unknown individuals or group who urge people to subscribe to monthly health tips.
Speaking exclusively with Daily Times, he said, “anything that is not regulated falls short of the health principles and code and should not be encouraged. Unregulated health messages sent by this group should not be accepted until it’s within medical regulation.
“These messages will harm people’s healthy living, they are unprofessionals in health care. There are some pieces of ginformation that needs screening before being sent or should not be sent out at all,” he said.
Adding, he said, in developed countries, health care has gone mobile, “but the point is that, it is not regulated in Nigeria and this can be enhanced if it is regulated in line with the accepted medical ethics.”
