Jobless Allied nurses suspend protest temporarily

The Allied Health Professionals from the College of Health in Kintampo in the Brong Ahafo Region, have called off their picketing at the Ministry of Health.

This follows a meeting between them and the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, after they besieged the ministry for two days over their posting and financial clearance.

“As at now, we have suspended the picketing, we went for a closed-door meeting, the result has been that, as at now, with the issue of clearance, government says it has exhausted all its finances, and therefore the student body should have patience and be hoping that within January and February, they are likely to have access to their financial clearance as well as their posting,” he said.

He further said he would visit the Ministry of Health to get a specific date for issuance of the financial clearance, because although they are trying to reason with the government, the government has not given them a specific date.

He also noted that, if nothing positive comes out of the visit, he will have no option than to lead the students to picket again at the ministry to demand what is rightfully due them.
