The Baha’i Community of Chico will hold a public celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Birth of Baha’u’llah, founder of the Baha’i Faith, with musical performances, short presentations and sweet treats from 4-6 p.m. on Oct. 22.
The public is invited to this Light of Unity Festival which will focus on creating unity and honoring diversity, and reservations are requested.
The event will feature Leaders for a Lifetime Hmong dancers led by Mary Portis of Chico State University; Ballet Folkloric of Rosedale led by Maria Trenda; Thorenstine Gunter piano music; Gospel Choir conducted by Pedro Douglas and Robert Morton; inspirational music by Tom Threlkeid; speaker Jessie Kearns from First Christian Church and Ali Sarsour of the Chico Muslim community and traditional Ecuadoran song by Belen Vivero with Tristan Rice on guitar.
Sarsour will create the sweet treats which will include a multitude of cupcakes.
