Ayisi-Boateng ‘must jump or be pushed’ over partisan comments – Ablakwa

MP for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, is pushing for Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Mr George Ayisi-Boateng, to be sacked for disclosing he will put the interests of NPP members before any other Ghanaian.

Addressing some members of the Tertiary Students’ Confederacy Network (TESCON) at a ceremony to usher in fresh students of Kumasi Technical University into the network over the weekend, Mr Ayisi-Boateng said members of the governing NPP and its student wing are his priority in his dealings at his duty post.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who is Minority Spokesperson on Foreign Affairs said the comments by Mr Ayisi-Boateng “suggests that some are more Ghanaian than others.”

“[I] don't remember when I ever heard a top diplomat speak of his own nationals who pay him with their taxes with such contempt at a public forum before university students who would have gone to listen to a possible role model to be inspired and to be better citizens,” Mr Ablakwa adds.

How tragic that at a time Parliament led by Rt. Hon. Speaker Oquaye has been united on the need for foreign embassies in Ghana to treat fellow Ghanaian visa applicants with dignity, our own High Commissioner to South Africa will be propounding an incendiary theory that suggests that some are more Ghanaian than others. That he's told his Foreign Service Staff that he's in South Africa for NPP people and that others should wait - "take it or leave it."

Don't remember when I ever heard a top diplomat speak of his own nationals who pay him with their taxes with such contempt at a public forum before university students who would have gone to listen to a possible role model to be inspired and to be better citizens.

Without a doubt, H.E Ayisi Boateng's comments are worse than that of Hon. William Quaitoo - the Deputy Agric Minister who resigned a while ago for tribal bigotry.

Instructively, we are led by a former Foreign Minister and we wait to see how he deals with his disgraced representative in South Africa.
