Trying not to sound too committal after rumours went wild that the 31-year-old has joined the club earlier this week, the Green Crocodiles boss explained they have reached advanced stage with negotiations but can only be sure of his wearing the green and white colours next season when he finally signs.

“It was understood as a principle, but you know that you cannot say that it is a done deal without official signature. It can get rough afterwards,” Ay told the Turkish media.

“We will work hard to sign him. This deal will be concluded by 21-22 of this month,” he added.

Gyan’s camp said while Bursaspor may be interested, they were yet to make a formal bid or approach for the Al Ahli forward, who has no desire to extend his deal or remain in the UAE, despite receiving offers to stay on and from other clubs.

“At this moment, we can not say we have a formal bid from Bursaspor. They made an initial contact, but they are yet to make it formal. Besides, we are open to a good offer given that there have been some initial offers from England, other clubs in Turkey and even UAE.

“It is certain that Gyan has no desire to stay on at the UAE, despite being a free agent and will as has always been stressed, consider and accept the offer that is in his best interest, so far as his career is concerned,” Anim Addo told the Graphic Sports.

Plagued by injuries, Gyan, who celebrated his 50th national team goal for the Black Stars last week in the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Ethiopia, joined Shanghai SIPG from Al Ain, but lost his first team place last season, forcing him to join Al Alhi on loan to get more playing time.

Bursaspor avoided relegation last season and are desperate to make a new beginning when the season starts, having moved into a new stadium which they have named the Crocodile Arena.

The Turkish giants are also reportedly revamping their technical team, with Frenchman, Paul Le Guen, set to assume responsibility as the head coach.
